Erosion-Control
Bare and newly planted soil is particularly susceptible to erosion from rainfall and wind. Nearly every construction site has areas that are vulnerable to erosion. The use of specialized erosion-control techniques can minimize the potential for runoff, protecting the land from polluted water and preventing erosion. Taking the correct steps to prevent erosion is extremely important and often required for environmental compliance.
Wattles
Wattles are often constructed of different materials including, excelsior fibers, coconut fiber, or straw. These Erosion Control “Logs” are used to achieve various objectives, from slope stabilization to reducing water flow. Wattles provide the ability to create an easy inexpensive, decomposable slope break, helping to significantly prevent slope erosion.
Baffles
Baffles, typically constructed using T-Post and high tensile strength coconut fibers are installed in sediment basins. These baffles help to reduce both the turbulence and velocity of water, causing sediment to settle in basins, prior to water exiting the device.
Erosion Control Matting
As erosion-control blankets slow down the flow of water across the land surface, they also keep growing conditions ideal for new plantings and seeds, promoting rapid revegetation while protecting and covering the soil. There are many considerations that will indicate whether erosion-control blankets will be effective, and which type to use. From factors such as soil conditions, runoff velocities, steepness and length of slope, depth of flow, and the amount of time needed to establish the desired vegetation, CCS is experienced in determining the most effective and efficient product needed for project success.
Our experienced team can tackle erosion-control blanket projects of extraordinary size. We have managed complete landfill closures, slopes along highway projects, and other large-scale sites. Whatever challenges you anticipate in your project, CCS offers the complete turnkey solution: proper product, trained and reliable installers, and quality installation services to minimize erosion.
Silt Fence
A silt fence, sometimes (misleadingly) called a "filter fence," is a temporary sediment control device used on construction sites to protect water quality in nearby streams, rivers, lakes, and seas from sediment in stormwater runoff. Silt fences are low-cost and have a simple design, but their effectiveness in controlling sediment is often rather limited, due to problems with design, installation, and/or maintenance.
